Southwest California Legislative Council Releases Statement on the Financial Crisis

Greg Morrison, Chair of the Southwest California Legislative Council releases the following statement on the financial crisis facing our nation.

The Southwest California Legislative Council, the business advocacy coalition of the Temecula Valley, Lake Elsinore Valley and Murrieta Chambers of Commerce, urges Congress to immediately pass a responsible bipartisan financial rescue package that aims to stem the current the financial panic and protect taxpayers.

We believe Congress needs to take action to stabilize the financial markets. Failure earlier in the week to approve legislation addressing the financial crisis leaves uncertainty that may have dramatic affects on the markets and lowered equity prices, eroding individual savings and destroying billions of dollars of household wealth.

Congress needs to support a plan to successfully restore confidence in the American financial system , and preserve the flow of credit to the economy for stability, and include bipartisan program/plan oversight of not only the Southwest California region, but the rest of the nation.

The Southwest California Legislative Council urges Congress to immediately pass responsible financial rescue legislation, while protecting the American taxpayer.
